The Episcopalian Church was established in Arizona in 1859 when the Northwest, including Nebraska, the Dakotas, Wyoming, Colorado, New Mexico, Arizona, Utah, Montana, and Idaho, was organized as a jurisdiction. Joseph Cruikshank Talbot was consecrated as the Missionary Bishop of the Northwest on February 15, 1860.
